Kostadin is eleven, and he plays a sort of flute known as a kaval. He loves his country’s folk music and has formed a group with other children his age. His parents are hard working farmers, and his father frowns on Kostadin’s passion for music. He needs his son’s help in the fields. One day Kostadin is chosen to take part in a folk-music festival in a neighboring town. His father says he can’t go. With the help of his young musician friends, Kostadin decides to go anyway and starts preparing his trip in secret. On the morning of the big day, father catches him at it, but in the end, relents and sends him on his way.
