Fra Iacobus (Brother Jacob) is a Latin adaptation of Frère Jacques, based on the popular folk song. In this version, Fra Iacobus is a monk who frequently has problems getting up in time to ring the monastery bells for the morning prayers. To solve the problem, his fellow monks present him with an alarm clock, but the good idea backfires: The ticking of the clock keeps poor Fra Iacobus awake all night! In the end, however, he finds a rather practical solution.
