Why Me? Incest Prevention shares the message that “everybody has the right to decide who touches them and how they want to be touched,” in this sensitive, awareness-raising program. It teaches young children what incest is, why it is a serious family problem, and how to handle incest if it occurs. Young viewers learn how abusers use “special promises,” threats and guilt to keep the problem a secret. A dramatized case of abuse is presented to help children understand that they are not alone, that the problem must be properly communicated to another adult before it can be resolved, and that despite the abuser’s intimidation it is always okay to tell someone else.
“This is an excellent presentation, the language is tactful but fully expressive of the concepts and will be useful in helping children. Particularly useful for parents and teachers for its demonstration of how to discuss the topic of incest in a meaningful, comfortable manner. Recommended.” – Landers.
