Eraclio is leaving tomorrow for three months. In Eraclio’s village lives Hilarion, an old llamero who had to give up long crossings because he couldn’t walk any more. Hilarion has one great sorrow. His son, Roberto, has lived in his own world, the world of silence, ever since he was born. The villagers say he is a child of the gods. Old Hilarion would like his young Roberto to go on the great voyage with Eraclio. Between llameros there are some requests that cannot be denied.
