Danzig 1939 documents the struggle of the Danzig Jewish Community to survive the brutal assault of the Nazis. The community survived because its people took the unprecedented step of selling their property and possessions to Jewish communities abroad and used the money to finance emigration of the entire community. Interviews with survivors, film footage from 1939, and photographs of the lost community combine to paint an unforgettable portrait of the devastation of war.
