The death of Flannery O’Connor in 1964, at age 39, marked the loss of one of America’s most gifted 20th-century writers at the height of her powers. Each of her short stories carries her highly individual stamp. Based on one of her outstanding stories, "Comforts of Home" deals with a seemingly happy yet simultaneously disturbing mother-son relationship. A third party, a young girl, enters the family household and has a tremendous effect on both the mother and the son, with a tragic result for the mother.
